 Hangman,” by Paul Julian and Les Goldman, and based on a poem by Mau
 rice Ogden, explores themes of injustice and personal responsibility i
 n its tale of a town whose residents, afraid to speak up, are methodic
 ally executed by the title character.\nOther program highlights includ
 e “Dear Basketball,” Disney veteran Glen Keane’s animation of a 
 poem by Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant, written on the occas
 ion of his imminent retirement; Academy Award-winning Pixar director P
 ete Docter’s 1990 CalArts student film “Next Door”; and “Casin
 o,” the latest film from director Steven Woloshen, who, for some 30 
 years, has been creating award-winning experimental films by drawing d
 irectly on film stock.\nThe 19th ANIMATION SHOW OF SHOWS represents th
 e work of artists from eight countries, including nine women. Funny, m
 oving, engaging, and thought-provoking, the ANIMATION SHOW OF SHOWS no
 t only has something for everyone, but is a remarkable and insightful 
 microcosm of our world.\nFor 19 years, the ANIMATION SHOW OF SHOWS has
  been presenting new and innovative short films to appreciative audien
 ces at animation studios, schools and, since 2015, theaters around the
